Tabla Courses
Many students wish to learn the beautiful and unique rhythms of tabla to play with Indian musicians whilst others wish to play in fusion bands. Others are simply beginners curious to learn an instrument whose sounds are so deep and rich.
These courses are therefore aimed at meeting the varying needs of the student and courses may be combined.
Please note that for those at beginner level we recommend only the beginners course as we recognise that a solid foundation is necessary before a particular genre is mastered.
Classical and Rhythm Tabla
Learn Classical Tabla in a structured and logical manner helping you to recognise the most important compositions of the classical tabla repertoire such as Kaida, Tukra, Rela and Tihai. Appreciate the varying styles of different schools of tabla or gharanas and learn about the history. Learn how to put short solos together and the subtleties of the vast array of possible sounds. Combine your knowledge of solo with a solid grasp of the basic rhythms called Tal and the theory of time.

Accompaniment
For those familiar with tabla already this course helps you to use your knowledge of rhythms and solo in a practical manner. Understand how to accompany in classical pieces and light genres such as bhajans, ghazals, qqwali and film songs. Learn how to accompany sitar and flute as well as vocal. Learn about other types of music from around the world and learn to play specified rhythms in that style such as those of Flamenco, Klezmer, Latin or Jazz and Blues.

10 Lesson Beginner Course
This course is ideal for the absolute beginner, those who want to refresh their memory or those who simply want to solidify their musical foundations. It introduces the student to the basic Bols (syllables or notes), structured exercises and how to achieve the basic sounds. Students are taught classical compositions like Kaida, Tukra, Uthan and Tihai as well as covering the simple Tals in a simple and structured approach. This is an excellent guide for beginners and we thoroughly recommend it.
